ART

NEW Art and Venti

Some fan art to cheer up a friend

Panther

OK fine, it's not technically color. But it is more finished than a sketch. Just enjoy it

Satisfaction

Looks like he got some.

Looking for you

Better hope he doesn't find ya. And look it's cold - he has a hat

Till The Last Drop

Looks like it's good. Trying to get a more 'realistic' spooge look. I know the background stinks. But that's not the point here. Which as you know is an excuse for laziness ;)

Nimble

Why? Because he can.

Golden Boy

Huzzah - last pic of 2007. Was working on a generic horse then suddenly it turned into a friend of mine. Go figure.

Proto Dawn

Well I try to do something pretty every now and again. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. With all due apologies to Maxfield Parrish whom I have blatantly tried to rip off with little success

Enzi And the Hunting Dogs

So yeah that rhino gets around and isn't all that picky. And yes I cheated on the background. Deal with it.

SudoSith

Just getting my Sith on.

Artsy

Well it must be artsy. There's a cloth in it. That makes it all highbrow right?

Hottest Tub

Dragons need to relax every now and again too.

Hosejob

Cause sometimes using your hands just gets boring.

Bullback

Holy cow! It's a cow! And in color yet!

SCULPTURE

This is the project that had been occupying my time. I wanted to see if I could actually sculpt something. Haven't done so since art school. So for my test subject I chose my rhino character. Mostly because he doesn't have hair. That's hard to make. Learned some things. Probably made more than a few mistakes. I should invest in some more sculpting tools if I bother doing more of these. But overall it seems to have turned out fairly well. Now of course I have to bake it and paint it. Click on a image below for a larger version.. like you couldn't see that one coming.

Well surprise of surprises - I actually painted the thing. And here he is in all his 'finished' glory. Naturally there were some problems in the baking process and the fixes I had to perform weren't entirely successful. Nor can I seem to keep my hands steady enough for the superfine detail work. But that could be more of my own impatience than an actual problem. But whatever. You know the drill.

Well the sculpture bug has bit again. I tried to do a bull this time. Came out OK, but I ran into a couple problems. First my armature wire was a bit thin, and second the Super Sculpy was a bit soft which made it difficult to actually sculpt in a fine detail manner. And well let's look at the facts. It's not like I've done this in a long time and sadly my sculpting training wasn't as classical as it could be. But live and learn. And off to the next one.

The Gallery shows the sculpture in various stages, on the plate is finished but malleable, pink on black is post firing, and then the painted.
